Beat Colon Cancer

UOAA and the Ostomy Association of Southern Jersey collaborate with the American Cancer Society to fight colon cancer and help to improve the lives of those who have had a colon cancer diagnosis. Here are a number of links to sites where you can get additional information about this disease (which is highly curable if found in its early stages).

If you are a part of a family in which a blood relative has been diagnosed with colon cancer, it is very important for you and your other relatives to be screened early and regularly. If you have an inflammatory bowel disease, this is very important for you, too.

Recently, a Senate committee voted to require all private health insurance plans in the United States to pay for screening tests to detect colon cancer in high-risk patients. Click here to read the full story.
